Ed Balcourt was born in Brooklyn and lived in Long Island for 30 years. He worked in New York for 40 years. He was the proprietor and manager of an art studio in NYC that represented over 100 artists.
Ed has been a great asset to the art society for many years. He recieved his education at Pratt Institute majoring in illstration and graduated top third in his class. He was also educated in sculpture and photography.
He has diverse experience with New York advertizing and publishing companies. He lectured workshops at Cazenovia College, taught art at Syracuse University, and also taught at an American Prep School in Florida. He operated three art studios in Manhattan. He also had a hand in illustrating paperback book covers and movie poster art.
Ed is a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists. He painted portraits of prominent founders of corporations and many family portraits for private collectors. His body of work includes depictions of landscapes, waterscapes, and Native American Indians to name a few. His works are displayed on the walls of many commercial buildings, galleries, and private homes. The Slidell Art League is proud to call him a memeber of thier organization and would like to convey his tallent to the world of art.
